EMERGENCY CARE
Our emergency department is staffed with specialists in emergency medicine who work round the clock with great skill, empathy and dedication to handle any kind of medical or surgical emergency. Our team of doctors and nurses ensure that best quality and timely treatment is provided to every patient.
Infrastructure
Our emergency bay is equipped with the best infrastructure necessary to handle even the most serious and sick patients. We provide ventilator support, adult and paediatric advanced cardiac life support and advanced trauma life support care. Critical interventions like thrombolysis for stroke (both coronary and cerebral), cardioversion and defibrillation for arrhythmias are performed on a daily basis. Our team is prepared and trained to handle a mass inflow of victims during an external disaster. We conduct periodic mock drills to keep ourselves prepared for all eventualities.
We are one of the very few emergency centres in the state that provide facilities for decontamination prior to treatment in case of chemical or fire injuries. We also have an isolation facility for treating airborne communicable diseases such as tuberculosis, swine flu and MRSA.
The STAR Hospitals Emergency Medicine Division is open 24/7 to assess and treat patients’ acute and critical-care needs. Specializing in adult medicine, the division most commonly treats complications arising from:
- Cardiovascular disease
- Pulmonary disease
- Stroke
- Heart attack
- Cancer
- Renal failure
- Transplantation (acute and post-transplant needs)
- Routine general surgery
- Trauma/Accidents
